One of the main reasons for this is that ordinary mobile radio service radios can be used effectively for long range communication. These can operate within a range of 20 miles. These radios work best when there are no obstacles and the terrain is flat. These two-way radios cannot be used efficiently in mountainous areas. These radios are very powerful and most suitable for use in military organizations. These types of radios are expensive and users also need a license to operate these radios.
